After dental implant surgery, it is recommended that you take at easy for 24-48 hours. You may need to apply an ice pack to your face for 1-2 hours following surgery. Continue taking the antibiotics 4 times a day. No smoking, spitting or rinsing for the first 24 hrs following surgery. After the first 24 hours has elapsed, rinse with warm water and salt (approx. 1 tsp. salt per 8oz. water). Do this as often as you can (4-6 times a day) for the next 2 weeks. You may brush your teeth normally, just use caution when you are next to the surgical site. For single implants, chew on the opposite side for 7-14 days. For multiple implants, follow a soft nutritious diet until you are examined again. Avoid hard crusty foods, as well as food with seeds.
