Considering Dentures? Let’s Find the Right Fit for You.
If you're missing teeth, dentures can help restore your smile, improve chewing, speaking, and boost your confidence. Today, there are more comfortable and natural-looking options than ever before.
Types of Dentures
1. Full Dentures
Used when all of your teeth are missing.
Conventional Full Dentures
Placed after your gums have fully healed from tooth removal (takes a few months).
Pros: Better fit because the mouth has fully healed.
Cons: You’ll be without teeth during healing time.
Immediate Full Dentures
Made before your teeth are removed and placed the same day as your extraction.
Pros: You don’t go without teeth.
Cons: They may need adjustments later, as your gums and jawbone change while healing.
2. Partial Dentures
Used when only some teeth are missing.
Acrylic or Metal Partial Dentures
Made with a hard acrylic base or a combination of acrylic and a metal framework.
Pros: Durable and cost-effective; teeth can usually be added later if you lose more.
Cons: More rigid; may feel bulkier or have visible metal clasps.
Valplast Flexible Partials
Made from a soft, flexible plastic that blends naturally with your gums.
Pros: Lightweight, flexible, and very comfortable; no metal clasps.
Cons: Teeth cannot be added later, and they can be more difficult to repair if damaged. Also may not be the best option in all situations.
We’ll help you choose the best type for your mouth, your comfort, and your future dental needs.
What to Expect When Wearing Dentures
At first, dentures may feel a little strange. They might feel bulky or make speaking and eating a bit tricky. This is totally normal! Your mouth will adjust, and they’ll begin to feel more natural over time.
Caring for Your Dentures
Brush your dentures daily to remove food and plaque.
When not wearing them, soak them in room temperature water or denture cleaner (never hot water).
Be gentle—dropping them can break them.
If they feel loose or cause discomfort, don’t try to fix them yourself. Come in and let us adjust them safely.
Looking for a More Secure Option?
If traditional dentures aren’t the best fit for you, ask us about implant-supported dentures or denture bridges. These options can provide added stability, permanent and a more natural feel.
